IV.    Use of cookies

a.    "Cookies"

These are small data files used as unique identifiers.  Each cookie is unique to your web browser. The cookie contains anonymous information and is sent from the server of the website you are viewing to your computer or mobile phone. It will be stored on your device and only that server will be able to locate or retrieve the contents of that cookie. The cookies sent may be sent back to the website servers with updated data as you browse the website. Cookies are used by the vast majority of websites for their operation. Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting ("our cookies"), or they may be set by an organization that does not own the website you are viewing ("third party cookies"). For example, they may be set by other websites that run content on the page you are viewing or by an independent analytics company. The websites you visit may also include content embedded from other websites, and those websites may also set their own cookies. The Website may use third party advertising networks to deliver targeted advertising. These cookies may have the ability to track your browsing on various sites.

b.    How are cookies distributed?

Cookies can be divided according to who places them on your website, i.e:

First party cookie - they are limited to the domain of the website you are viewing. These cookies are considered more secure.

Third-party cookies - these are placed by a script from another domain. This allows users to be tracked across domains. They are often used to evaluate the effectiveness of advertising channels.

These websites use two types of cookies:

Short-term, session cookies - Session cookies are only stored temporarily during a browsing session and are deleted from your device when you close your browser.

Long-term, persistent cookies (Essential/persistent cookie) - This type of cookie is stored on your computer for a fixed period of time depending on your browser and cookie settings (usually a month, a year or longer) and these cookies are not deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are used to identify you from one browsing session to the next, for example to store your preferences so they will be remembered for your next visit. You can also delete them manually.

c.    How do we use cookies?

We use cookies to improve your user experience by allowing websites to identify you, either for the duration of your visit (using session cookies) or for repeat visits (using essential/permanent cookies). The cookies we use may:

be necessary for you to move around the site or to provide some basic functionality; or may improve the functionality of our website, for example by storing your preferences. They record your choices (such as your username or language preference) and allow us to provide a personalised experience; or help us to improve the performance of our website to offer you a better user experience. The information provided by these cookies is anonymous and helps us understand how our visitors use our website so that we can improve the presentation of our content. These services are generally provided by independent measurement and research companies, so in the case of these cookies they may be third party cookies.

We use cookies to maintain the effectiveness of our website to provide you with the best user experience. Therefore, in particular, strictly necessary technical cookies cannot be blocked independently and by continuing to browse our website and use our online services, you agree that we may place these cookies on your device. Our website also uses cookies for behaviourally targeted advertising, which allows us to tailor advertising and ensure it is relevant to you based on the areas you view on our website and the geographic location of your IP address. These cookies are placed by third party advertising networks with our consent.

d. We use the following cookies on our website:

Necessary - first party, short term. They provide basic technical functionality of the site, i.e. logging in, remembering settings, using services, etc.

Marketing - first and third party. They are used for behavioural targeting of advertising based on interests. If advertising has to be displayed (as the main income for the site and its content creation), then let the user/reader be shown offers that may actually interest them.

Functional - first party, short term and long term. They make it easier for the visitor to e.g. remember language preference settings etc.

e.    Changes to the cookie settings on your device:

If you wish to modify your cookie settings on this page, click on the "Settings" tab in the cookie bar where you can choose which cookies you want to enable or disable.

Consent

When you click on "Save settings", you consent to the use of the categories of cookies and add-ons described in the pop-up window and in this Cookie Policy. You can disable the use of cookies using your browser, but please be aware that our website may no longer function properly.

Enabling/disabling and removing cookies

You can delete cookies automatically or manually using your browser. You can also specify that certain cookies do not need to be placed. Another option is to change your internet browser settings so that you receive a message each time a cookie is stored. For more information about these options, please see your browser Help.

Please note that our website may not function properly if all cookies are disabled. If you delete cookies in your browser, they will be placed again with your consent when you visit our website again.
